Week One:
December 21-23

Edible Science Experiments
$25 + Materials (Estimated $8)
Students will explore a range of science topics, ultimately resulting in edible creations!
Required Materials:

1 pack of gummy bears (aim for ~40-50 bears

~20 wooden kebab skewers

1 roll of wide masking tape (or other sticky, thick tape)

1 pack of oreos
-
2 packs of skittles (in particular, red, yellow, and blue skittles [primary colors]

1 white ceramic or plastic plate (or a clear plastic/ceramic plate + 1 piece of printer paper)

2 chairs

Holiday Crafts
$25 + Materials (Estimated $8)

Students will make three different holiday themed crafts!
Required Materials:

8 pieces of constructions paper. I particular:

Book Club / Story Writing

Week Two:

Painting

Students will learn the basics of color theory and apply them to their creations using a varitey of application materials.
Required Materials:

5 paint colors (White, Black, Red, Blue, Yellow)

1 paintbrush minimum (recommended two sizes)

1 plastic plate/paint palette

1 wooden cutout (to be painted)

Journalism

Students will explore the basics of journalism as they work to research, write about, and publish their own work via a digital newsletter that will be sent to their families.

Public Speaking

2 - 3 PM CST
Students will learn the basics of persuasion, communication, and healthy vocalization skills! They will explore key public speaking concepts as they perform a series of exercises, including tongue twisters, for example. Students will also be given the opportunity to develop their own PowerPoint presentations.

Week Three:

Photography

Students will learn the basics of photography and photo editing through this introductory course. They will be given the opportunity to explore the theory behind this art form and apply it first-hand.

Architecture and STEM Topics

Students will explore the basics of journalism as they work to research, write about, and publish their own work via a digital newsletter that will be sent to their families.
